kraftwerk re:werk vs Max Cooper
kraftwerk re:werk is a ground breaking musical experience, taking Kraftwerk’s iconic album Trans Europe Express as the starting point for a thrilling symphonic trip.
Created by composers Charlotte Harding and Lloyd Coleman that premiered at Simple Things Festival 2017, kraftwerk re:werk is an intoxicating mix of symphonic and electronic instruments, with ear-bending sounds sitting directly next to 70s beats, and each and every sound on-stage amplified and filtered live, turning the orchestra into a giant synthesizer.
Conducted by the award-winning Charles Hazlewood, the 39-piece ensemble contains a bank of Moogs, drum machines and live percussion, assistive technology, alongside bass oboes, an electro harp and a suite of orchestral strings and brass.
Prior to kraftwerk re:werk you’ll experience some seriously wild scores from three twentieth century icons, Schnittke, Ligeti and Messiaen, to ensure that you are fully immersed and ready to hear the new work with fresh ears.
The evening is kicked off by electronic artist Max Cooper with a live AV set to take you on an incredible filminc journey. Linking his interest in science, music and visual arts, Cooper’s mesmerising collection of ideas and audio-visual experiments form a kaleidoscopic immersive sound experience.
‘nothing short of a marvel’, Bristol Post
'the arrangements are bold: the melody from Trans-Europe Express rings out of a dizzy whirl of sound, while Autobahn’s smooth pootle is chaotically recast as Mad Max’s morning commute.' The Guardian
